Painting You

i.    Lines
Lines define when I think about you.
Van Gogh brushstrokes in Cerulean blue.
Me and the planets all in orbit around you.
Winking stars looking dim beside you.

Sleep and space my roads to find you.
Shadow iris keeps it all new.
Roads like veins all travel to you.
You're the sky that the sun awakes to.

ii.    Circles
Why do I still feel the sun's warmth after the sun has set?
Why must I owe so much after I've paid my debt?
Why must I keep running to chase the things I'll never get?
When in the end it was only you I didn't regret.
The sun was in my sky, and nothing prepared me for your smile.

iii.    Squares
Sleep wants to take me from you but maybe there's a way, to swim through heavens on only a feeling and find you where you lay. Through lucid wormhole traveling, a surfer on the sea, I'll traverse this expanse of distant romance and bring you back to me.

You say you're more likely to die by a crash in a car
I tell you no one's likely to be so beautiful
but there you are

Beauty doesn't begin to describe you, but it wants to... it wants to...

iv.    Triangles
You can say everything is fine
cos deep down we know
even the wrong words rhyme.

And in the darkness we'll stop fighting
can't see faces, we've wanted more
and shown each other our hiding places.

So I'll pick up the compass you left behind
to show because whether or not I know
the way I don't want to let you go.

v.    Eternity
You took my hand and jumped from the jacuzzi to the pool.
Then you left me at the deep end, heart broken like a fool.

Was I just some kind of experiment, a prize for you to win?
Are you ever coming back to me, my faith in us wonders when.

Cos I'm here aching
Is everything we built worth breaking?
