DA VINCI CODE

Our Rating: 7.5/10

Summary: A door must be opened for one to walk through.

The Da Vinci Code is the highly controversial film by Ron Howard,
based on the novel by David Brown, which tries to give proof
that of the Royal Bloodline of Jesus Christ,
and that Jesus in fact was married to Mary Magdalene,
who was pregnant with his child at the time of the Crucifixion,
and that the direct descendents of Christ not only walk the Earth today,
but are and always have been, protected by a sacred and secret Order.

A fascinating tale of carefully woven fact, speculative fiction, and fiction,
one is drawn deeper into the plot, as we come to discover what or who the Grail truly is,
and why it's been the most carefully guarded secret for 2000 years.

We sidestep offneding anyone, but by doing so sidestep what could be a great movie.
No one will be changed by The Da Vinci Code, but perhaps some will be at least encouraged
to reinvite old loves of history, and the spiritual journey.

Though considering most analysts were projecting a $50-$75 million weekend opening,
a $30 million opening day is superb.

A very enjoyable film for those who love history, and a good mystery.
The beauty of the landscapes and the perfect soundtrack by Hans Zimmer takes you on an intriguing journey
of speculative fiction*.

*Speculative fiction is that which is denoted as fiction but could be theorized as fact.

I love history, and believe everyone should seek the truth for themselves.
To do as your told according to tennets
is likened to being led around blind folded in the dark.
I t is neither empowering or spiritually educational.

This movie raises questions and encourages independent thought and that is a good thing.

The subject matter is of the oldest fables of man, and in so should be thought about carefully.

For we do take much stock in our fables, our alleghories, archetypes, myths, legends and spiritual journies.

The movie was well made, with a beautiful direction and acting,
but it lacked the details to quench my thirst. Perhaps that is commendable,
as the ending leaves one with an openness, an expansive quality
that is rich soil for the mind to meditate.

The movie did not overly pander to the egos whims of fancy,
and in so doing could be it's undoing, as many want to pamper the ego
when it comes to cinema,
and this movie was not about that at all.

Again, that is commendable.

Fascinating movie! And one that will hopefully open doors for you,
to explore your own faith, and discover your own relationship with God
or whatever you believe in.

I think it's important to take nothing but truth seriously,
and to only know truth as a moment where armed with personal experience,
act as the stepping stone towards enlightenment.
