Kung Fu Hustle is not only a tribute to the art of martial arts, but a tip of the hat to the original masters, the Buddhist monks, Shaolin, Wang Xui novels, and classic and contemporary theater; and carries with it a storyline so rich that it is soon to be a classic for all time in the genre of martial arts, as well as film.

Set in the 1940's, we find ourselves in a violent reality, where the good have gone underground, and the bad have taken over. With an iron fist, of money, guns, and power, the cities have fallen into despair, the only peace found in the poverty stricken outlaying towns too poor to be of interest to the mob.

Two young punks make waves in a povery stricken town of Pig Sty, and stir up a sleeping lion. The Axe gang coming to investigate are sent running with tails between their legs. In a desperate turf war and save of face, the leader of the axe gang breaks a famous killer out of prison. The greatest killer if you will, who is so fast he can even stop bullets.

This movie has it all. Love story reminiscent of Love Hina, and yet so much more. Classical meets contemporary in this tour de force focus that gives tribute to so many films and styles of the past.

One must wonder what is yet to come...
